San Francisco

My friend Mary and I were finalists in BYU's Negotiation Competition, so we got to go to San Francisco for Regionals! San Francisco has always been on my bucket list so I was so EXCITED!!! Mary and I had such a fun time.  The competition was a really great learning experience and we did pretty well.

Friday we spent the day exploring the city...

Mary had been to San Francisco a couple of months before so she knew the best places to take me!

First stop: Breakfast
I think this was called the ferry building...but we knew it as the place that had the most amazing Belgian waffles and hot chocolate ever..

They even put designs in the hot chocolate..
Mary is obsessed with this hot chocolate...
This city is so beautiful...everywhere we looked there was something amazing to see...ex. The Bay Bridge

Next we took a trolley to Pier 39...

This store was devoted only to left handed things...I had to take a picture for Skyler.  I'm sure Sky would find alot of the things they had in here useful lol!
The pier had a great view of Alcatraz

The sea lions

These huge ones stayed in the same position the whole time we watched..just sunbathing away...it was pretty funny.

The Golden Gate Bridge

Next Stop: Lunch
My mom is obsessed with the sourdough bread they have here..everytime my dad flys to San Francisco he knows to bring back a loaf for her!

I have to say that it was yummy!
 Exploring the City
If you look closely you can see that this is the famous crooked street..Lombard Street

The Occupy Wall Street Movement

Beautiful architecture
The famous cable cars

We ended the day with..Shopping. San Francisco had basically every store I could have hoped to go to!
Our favorite store: H&M

The mall was huge

Mary and I on the train on our way to Santa Clara for the competion

So...because BYU didn't give us very much money for the trip, we decided to stay with a host family that was in the Santa Clara ward.  Nicest people ever..but strange.  We were picked up in a 12 person van complete with cow seat coverings, spent the night in a pink and purple room decorated with unicorns, and learned all about homeschooling and the benefits of crawling to develop the brain. Definitely an adventure to say the least lol...

The Competition was on Saturday and definitely made us exhausted..luckily Sunday we got to sleep in and make our way into the city for more sightseeing!

It was a great trip and I'm so lucky to have such an amazing friend like Mary!  I really have been blessed in my life with amazing friends...this period of my life has been no exception:)

Despite the fun, I was still so excited to see my sweetheart at the end of the weekend! Hopefully someday Skyler and I will be able to explore the city together!

  1. So you're saying that 12 person vans with cow coverings, homeschooling, and unicorn clad bedrooms aren't normal?
